Petra Hurtado

Petra (Stieninger) Hurtado is the founder of Urban Breezes and based in Chicago. Petra has a PhD in urban planning from the Vienna University of Technology. She has been working as a leader, advisor, researcher, and educator in the global urban sustainability arena for over a decade, including the nonprofit, public, private, and academic sectors. Her areas of expertise and publications include sustainable cities, smart cities, climate change mitigation/adaptation, green building, behavior change and environmental psychology, and related policy issues. Petra teaches on urban sustainability and environmental psychology at the Vienna University of Technology (Austria) and is a guest lecturer at Loyola University Chicago (USA) and the Universidad Tecnologica de Bolivar (Colombia). She has authored and co-authored multiple books, research papers, publicly funded reports, and articles and has presented as a subject matter expert at numerous conferences hosted by organizations such as the American Planning Association, the U.S. Green Building Council, the Austrian Climate and Energy Fund, and the German American Chamber of Commerce.
